I fell in love with Antiques & Brocante and the habits of a chinner because I fell in love with a house. The house inspired so much, like ..... a dormant garden just waiting for someone to ....... push open the gates
FINALLY ............it rains
Thats more like it......much more of a Blanc-Leger day

DUST STORM.......
don't ask how long it took to wash everything clean...

After this rather impressionable moment in time,
I am happy to say it is raining.

These photos were taken at 6.45 in the morning.

and this...

Not very Blanc-Leger this morning

Under a cloud of red dust......

Its not every morning you wake up and find the sun is up...........but it is not shinning through your window, as it normally does. Rather, what is waiting for you on the other side of your bedroom curtains is a blanket of red bull dust, blocking all that is familiar to us, and resembling more like one might imagin Mars.

Sydney woke this morning to the strong smell of dust, and a feeling of invasion. Those images that are often portraited in a bad sci fi film. A dust storm had worked its way east across the state of New South Wales and had blanketed Sydney completely. The normally blue and green landscape of inner sydney harbour was now just shades of red and orange, with visability just down to a couple of meters.

Yes, I live in a sunburn country yes, but what is normally reserved for inner Australia found itself amongst the city dwellers of Sydney this morning....leaving us all thinking about climate change.
Dog Love

What do you do with a dog that thinks he is human.
Knows that he loves Micky D's.
And trys to master the task of sucking from a straw.......

Autumn in Australia

Its becoming winter.....
I am saying goodbye to the summer, and lighting the home fires in the evenings...in a country where four seasons are not a given, the change of seasons are always welcome..

Poppy

Absent for a while because of the loss of a 'grandfather'.....
Brocante et Buis

Don't you love it
The weather is cooler......
or for those of you in the north..... a hint of warmth in the sun
and you go looking for those weekend joys.....the ones....
that bring us home with a smile on our faces

Elegant Italian style......

Italian Style...........

The thing I love about europe is that everything is so old. Each detail begins to melt between the centuries, but also never fails to look so fresh, on the face of a new table.
A Heart of calm...

Mis en scene

We started building works on our house two weeks ago, and I convinced my self that it was organised. Today another set of tradesmen arrived, and suddenly ....... I was not feeling so sure of myself.

....how I would rather remember my house........

Le 33 down under.......

French Style at Home

Le 33..... down under in Australia

Version Anglais.....

Welcome to Australia Florence !!!!!!!......

Sebastien Siraudeau's beautiful book Maison d'Hotes, with its same wonderful photos, has been translated into english, newly titled......French Style at Home.

Le 33 is featured on page 26, is one of my favourite places to stay at when I visit France.

and,.....sunday afternoons in the garden

...and lazy sunday afternoons in the garden....

Sunday afternoons

Sundays
A little bit of old fashion fun. Flea market find in Paris with a little bit of Australian sun, and a long walk on a Sunday afternoon.

Façonable

This is my window display for Façonnable's new flagship store in Elizabeth Street, Sydney. That French brocante ambience is the perfect complement to Façonnable's blend of fashion and tradition.
